Position Overview
Houzz is seeking a user-centric product manager to drive the growth of consumers who purchase products on our Marketplace. With over 10M products and 40M monthly unique users, Houzz has grown into a top ecommerce destination in a few short years, but we’re just getting started. Shopping for the home is uniquely different than other product categories and Houzz is a complete platform for home design, so there are multiple channels and levers we can pull to convert visitors into buyers (and ultimately into repeat buyers).
We are looking for a execution-oriented product manager with a “growth mindset” -- someone who can work in quick and rapid iterative cycles, has the creativity and optimism to formulate new ideas and approaches, is oriented strongly towards experimentation, and, above all, uses data and structured thinking to inform their approach. The ideal candidate will not be afraid to try potentially controversial things and understands that the cycle of testing, learning, and iterating is the key to unlocking core product growth.
In this role, you will work closely with engineering, design, product, and data analytics teams to build a roadmap of ideas all aimed at improving the conversion to purchase and lifetime value of Houzz users, through retention and and reactivation. You’ll explore ideas across mobile and web and work across many product areas.
Contributions:
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and design to create and manage the roadmap for growing purchasers and revenue on Houzz with a focus on activation, retention, and reactivation of existing users on web and mobile apps
  • Lead a focused engineering and design team and to ruthlessly prioritize potential projects based on impact, execute rapidly to gather signal, and iterate on and launch promising ideas
  • Work hand-in-hand with data analytics teams to analyze results and synthesize findings
  • Identify key improvements across various conversion funnels and use several tools to drive positive results (email, notifications, on-site experiences, ranking, etc.)
  • Own and deliver on key growth metrics each quarter
  • Clearly communicate growth strategy in a structured way to socialize your roadmap and report results
  • Champion a “growth mindset” and approach across the team
  • Stay on top of best practices across the industry to develop a resource of growth tactics that can be extended to Houzz
  • Required Skills & Experience:
  • A technical background is required (CS degree, with software engineering experience a plus)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Product Management at a consumer internet company with a proven track record of successful, consumer-facing product launches that touch millions of users; ideally, work experience in a consumer growth role
  • Strong consumer product instincts; you intuitively understand why product ideas will succeed
  • Fundamentally data-driven and technical; you have the ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources, identify key insights, spot optimization opportunities, and inform product decisions
  • Extremely detail-oriented; you believe that a great product is the sum of an inordinate number of small, thoughtful decisions
  • Exhibit a bias towards action and experimentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to communicate with a wide range of team members and job functions
  • An amazing ability to drive projects to completion
  • No specific domain expertise in ecommerce is required (although, it’s a plus); we’re looking for smart, motivated, self-starters who can learn quickly
