Description

At TransferWise we’re changing how money moves around the world.

Sending money from one country to another should be as simple, fast and cheap as sending a text. But today it’s mostly unfair, confusing and stuck in the past. We’re using our passion for honesty, fairness and useful technology to build something better for people all over the world.

We’ve made a good start with over 3 million customers sending £2 billion every month with TransferWise. And even better they’re saving themselves £60 million a month in the process! And it’s not just money transfer. Our customers trust us to store over £1 billion in their TransferWise accounts, which they can spend anywhere the world with the newly launched TransferWise debit Mastercard.

Big numbers, but that’s only 1% of all the money moving around the world. We started TransferWise to rid the world of unfair fees and poor service. It’s a huge task and that’s where you come in.

TransferWise is looking for a Product Designer in London

Designers at TransferWise are embedded in our product teams, so you can really get your teeth in a specific area of the customers’ experience. You’ll be completely empowered to do the right thing, working from start to finish with engineers, product managers and everyone else needed to get it done.

You will

  • Build empathy for our customers. Understand their wants and needs and build a strong vision for what TransferWise should do to help them
  • Work together with your team to define both the long-term strategy and short-term tactics for your area of the product
  • Operate from end-to-end. From research and rough sketches through to pixels, motion and shipped code
  • Collaborate and align with other designers on the ‘glue’; the ideas, patterns, and styles that make our product feel like one coherent thing to our customers
  • Be a champion for quality and the guardian of the details. Help your product team understand and appreciate the impact of great design and how to make it happen

You might be a fit for this role if

  • You show strong product thinking, understanding not just ‘what’ but ‘why’, too
  • You can take complex fuzzy problems and boil them down into simple, elegant and lovely solutions
  • You can facilitate a human-focused design approach within your team
  • You can give and receive feedback constructively
  • You can act independently, but also know when to align with other designers and when to ask for help
  • You’re curious, humble, experimental and willing to try, fail, learn and try again
  • You have a strong portfolio of projects showing your interaction and visual design skills
  • You have solid (3+ years) experience shipping digital products

You’ll be working with smart, friendly people and there are some great benefits like a flexible working policy, 6 week paid sabbatical once you’ve been here over 4 years, generous parental leave and an annual company weekend away to name a few.

So, if you’re keen to learn, grow, try new things, and aren’t afraid of a bold plan, you’ll fit right in.
