Senior Tax Manager

Wise is one of Europe’s fastest growing companies, providing transparent and low cost money transfer services to over 10 million customers in more than 70 countries.  We are looking for an awesome new International/Senior tax manager to come on board in Singapore, to help us on our high speed growth journey!

You’ll be part of a commercially-minded International tax team, helping to ensure our tax affairs are efficient and transparently compliant so that our mission is sustainable. 

Your mission

• Lead on tax considerations of APAC country and product expansion, working with the local Banking and Expansion and Product teams and external advisors.
• Oversee the outsourced preparation of all corporate tax computations in APAC (e.g. Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and more as we continue to expand).
• Oversee the preparation of IFRS and local GAAP year-end tax reporting and tax provisions for group reporting and local statutory accounts.
• Lead on APAC tax projects and provide regional input on global projects.
• Manage local tax audits and be the APAC tax authority relationship owner. 
• Support the Group’s indirect tax team on APAC indirect tax compliance and advisory work. 
• Keep up to date on the latest APAC tax policy developments and provide insightful updates to the business and tax team. 

About you

• You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to build strong collaborative working relationships with the regional and group level teams and to effectively operate in a remote tax team.
• With the rest of the tax team currently based in Europe you will need to be proactive self-starter, able to operate and make decisions independently, but with a clear understanding of risk and when decisions need to be escalated. 
• You will have 6+ years of relevant post-qualified experience working in an accounting/legal firm or in-house environment (with a preference for recent in-house experience) with APAC tax and accounting experience.
• The ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and to operate in a fast-moving environment.
• Motivated to learn and develop new skills, but also to enjoy work and to bring a smile to the office (or Zoom call). 

Some extra skills that would be great

• Experience working in or for technology and/or financial services businesses. 
• Interest in technology and its use in tax and finance.
• Excellent Excel and finance systems skills and comfortable analysing large volumes of data.
