Job purpose :

Acuris, formerly the Mergermarket Group, is seeking an experienced salesperson to manage the sales and contract renewal process for their PaRR product. 

The PaRR (Policy and Regulatory Report ) product, is an analytical news service dedicated to competition law and regulatory developments around the world, with coverage spanning six continents – Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Australia. PaRR delivers global intelligence, analysis and proprietary data on competition law, IP, trade and anti-bribery law, and sector-specific regulatory change.  

 
As a Sales Director based in the New York or DC office, the candidate will be responsible for running their territory as their own business. This includes, but is not limited to: prospecting, sourcing, managing trials and negotiation/renewal of new business contracts. While also growing and developing existing subscribers, establishing relationships with a variety of levels and user profiles within the subscriber base and closing out subscription renewals for PaRR in a timely manner.  
 
The role provides an ideal opportunity for individuals wishing to gain an insight into the world of regulatory and compliance issues. 

 

Job Qualifications: 

An ideal candidate will be self-motivated, driven, and enjoy an environment in which an enthusiastic attitude is a must. A very strong candidate would have the following attributes: 

  • A background in selling to Law Firms, Government Agencies, Corporations, Investment Banks, Private Equity Firms and Hedge Fund clients 
  • Previous experience and track record in business development or new business sales and contract renewals/account management 
  • Organized, pro-active, self-starter who can successfully run territory as their own business 
  • Financial market knowledge/experience necessary 
  •  
    Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Calling on leads from our news, marketing campaigns or those pre-qualified by Sales Development 
  • Develop and execute new business sales strategy to optimize revenues 
  • Maintain and grow existing relationships 
  • Manage territory to reach or exceed monthly personal target and team target 
  • Create and implement a growth strategy for each subscriber according to needs, business model and  opportunities for the PaRR products 
  • Hold online and in-person meetings, demos and sales presentations with prospective and current subscribers. 
  • Manage the sales process from qualifying and meeting setting to negotiation and closing 
  • Work alongside relationship management team to ensure client success and retention 
  • Some travel required, normally ~10-15%

    Job purpose :

    PaRR (Policy and Regulatory Report), an Acuris-owned company, is looking to hire a full-time reporter to cover the highest-profiled competition-related conduct investigations out of our Washington DC bureau.

    This exciting role will supplement the PaRR product’s analytical news service, which provides insights into competition law and regulatory developments around the world.

    The Competition Policy Reporter will be involved with writing breaking news and detailed analysis on Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission investigations into monopolization and cartel activities as well as efforts on Capitol Hill to modernize the US federal antitrust laws to meet the needs of the digital age.

    This is a fantastic role for a journalist keen to develop a career specializing in reporting on matters at the intersection of politics, business and law. The right candidate would join a talented team of reporters to further develop legal reporting expertise in a fast-paced business news environment.

    The role will be based in Washington DC and will work together with our global team of reporters across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

    Opportunities to travel may present themselves from time to time.

    Skills:

    We are looking to work with experienced financial journalists for feature articles and interviews covering the infrastructure and energy markets across Europe.

    Commissioned articles may include theme-based stories, investigative sector reports and interviews covering areas such infrastructure fundraising and financing, renewable energy and PPP procurement at national and municipal level and infrastructure and energy M&A and privatisation.

    Freelancers interested in working on commissions for Inframation Group must have contacts across infrastructure funds and project financing and experience writing on these topics, preferably with local or country market knowledge and language skills. You will also be expected to pitch your own ideas for long, well-thought stories (2,000 words and above) and work closely with commissioning editors in London.

    Acuris Studios, the publishing and events division of Acuris, is looking for an Editorial Assistant to join its team based in Central London.

    The Editorial Assistant will cover co-ordinating with internal teams (editorial, design, sales etc) and liaising with external clients and suppliers to ensure the smooth running and high quality of a number of thought leadership publications (both print and digital). You will need excellent organisational and communication skills, as well as a keen eye for detail.

     

    Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordination with internal teams (incl. editorial, design, sales)
  • Liaison with clients (incl. law firms, advisory firms, corporates)
  • Liaison with suppliers (incl. printers, journalists, proofreaders, conference call providers)
  • Quality control, including proofreading and other editorial/production checks

    Debtwire is the leading news service and information provider in the leveraged finance markets, providing market-moving intelligence and data on new issues in the primary markets, performance of the issuers in the secondary market and on full-blown financial restructurings.

    Job Description:

    Debtwire is looking for a reporter to join its restructuring desk to cover the French European distressed debt market. You will be delving into primarily underperforming private equity-backed companies, writing analytical updates on their performance as well as closely covering creditor negotiations, restructuring proposals and their implementation.

    Focusing on mostly off-diary events, you will need to use your initiative to build relationships within the hedge fund, trader and advisory communities to uncover leads and verify the information.

    The private nature of the industry means unveiling information from well-placed sources is the first challenge, but you should also have an analytical mind as this is a highly technical market and you will become a market commentator as well as analyse companies’ capital structures and earnings.  

    You will work on a small, collaborative desk and receive support and on the job training.

    Responsibilities:

  • Produce analytical and commentary pieces on underperforming French credits based on a solid understanding of balance sheets and sector trends
  • Produce exclusive off-diary articles and breaking news on distressed European credits, such as creditor negotiations, restructuring proposals and their implementation
  • Write exclusive articles based on information sourced from hedge funds, distressed traders and the advisory community
  • Attend key conferences and relevant industry events in France
  • Work independently and in collaboration with a wide team of reporters across regions
  • Produce copy under tight deadlines.
  • Skills & Requirements:

  • Fluency in French
  • Experience either in a news reporter role, ideally with a financial focus, or in the financial markets/ legal sector with a proven desire to write or in a market reporting role
