About the Role:

Reporting jointly to the SVP of Marketing and the CEO, the Business Analyst will own the big picture view on Business KPIs, how they are evolving/developing, and their short- and long-term impact on our business. Babbel is at an inflection point in its growth in the US and in this role you will help accelerate our efforts by empowering the marketing teams with marketing intelligence and data-driven actionable insights. In addition, you will lead partnership efforts with a variety of companies to help Babbel become a house-hold name in language-learning.


Specific Duties Include:
  • The Marketing Channel Managers at Babbel thrive on driving growth. You’ll work as a trusted advisor/partner for this team and empower them by giving them strategic and tactical guidance, developing data-driven actionable insights, challenging their thinking, helping them uncover areas of opportunity
  • You’ll own the reporting and analysis function at Babbel and help marketing channel teams automate and improve dashboards to support efficient decision-making. You’ll be the impartial counsel on performance and help teams report, analyze and make investment decisions to fuel business growth
  • With an eye on the history and to the future, you’ll lead the annual, quarterly and monthly Budget planning and forecasting function. You’ll understand historical trends, and guide the modeling and assumptions for the future
  • You’ll work closely with the Analytics and Finance teams at Babbel Headquarters in Berlin for business modeling and analysis
  • A key partner to the CEO at Babbel USA, you’ll research and surface market intelligence, competitor analysis, other external research & trends that may have an impact on strategy.
  • With your business development hat on, you’ll source, negotiate, and operationalize partnerships with third-parties that fuel our growth and develop brand-awareness.
Key Job Requirements Are:
  • Relevant academic background (ideally a degree in finance, statistics, economics or business, MBA preferred)
  • At least 3+years’ experience as a Business Analyst with concentration in data, analysis and insights
  • Experience in B2C tech company required, experience in a subscription-based services company will be ideal, start-up experience will come in handy
  • Experience analyzing large volumes of data with good understanding of statistics and data modeling
  • Expert Excel user with ability to distill insights and provide recommendations that are simple and actionable
  • Training and/or experience in negotiations
  • SQL, Google Analytics experience required
  • Experience with a front-end data visualization tool (like Tableau) will be a plus
  • Disciplined individual who is a collaborator and able to build influence
  • Multilingualism is a plus; strong interest in language is a requirement
