Houzz is looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager. In this position, you will work closely with the Controller and other members of the accounting team in all aspects of finance and accounting. You will be responsible for managing the general accounting function of the company, participate in the monthly financial close, and prepare monthly management financial reporting packages. Responsibilities include

Responsible for the financial closing activities: journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements preparation

Managing the team to ensure that work (AP, AR, billing, merchant processing, cash collections) is completed in a timely manner, in accordance with company policies and deadlines

Interface with external accountants during audits

Assist in the development, implementation, and interpretation of goals, policies, and procedures relating to accounting, financial management and reporting

Assume other special activities and responsibilities as required

Requirements & preferences for this position include

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

Excellent knowledge of GAAP

5+ years of progressive accounting experience; ideally, a public accounting/private industry mix

CPA and/or MBA a plus

Management experience of accounting staff is strongly preferred

Experience designing and implementing new policies and procedures is a plus

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.)

Must be trustworthy and confidential

Must have excellent communication skills and ability to present to senior management

Precision and detail oriented with strong analytical skills

Proven ability to identify and drive process and system improvements

Positive, energetic, optimistic attitude, not afraid to roll up your sleeves

Team player , strong interpersonal skills including conscientiousness, diplomacy, flexibility, dependability, and, last but not least, a good sense of humor
