About the Role
We are looking for an experienced buyer who will contribute to the growth and profitability of our Houzz Marketplace. This individual must be a self-starter with strong communication skills, negotiating skills and must exhibit strong leadership qualities. This job is based in Orange County, CA and will be an integral part of the Buying Team.
What You'll Do
  • Onboard top-tier vendors to Houzz Marketplace and Trade Program
  • Negotiate improved terms for existing accounts to increase overall profitability for Houzz. This includes the renegotiation of cost of goods, allowance, restocking and drop ship fees and updating vendor return policies to be favorable for Houzz
  • Analyze sales performance and implement new growth opportunities with emerging vendors and products that make Houzz the industry leader
  • Build and grow the Houzz Trade Program by negotiating significant discounts and adding key vendors
  • Maintain awareness of market trends and competitive landscape
  • Identify and present solutions for growth and development of category
  • Review and surface opportunities from sales reports
  • Contribute to and lead ongoing departmental initiatives per business needs
  • Assist with the training and development of the Buying Team
  • Collaborate with Category Manager on special projects
  • Research and attend key industry trade shows as needed
  • Embody Houzz core competencies and exemplify leadership among team by being a positive role model
  • At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have
  • 3+ years of buying experience; eCommerce experience preferred
  • A deep understanding of margins
  • Advanced negotiating skills
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication
  • Excellent account management skills
  • An ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Technically proficient in Excel, Google Docs, Gmail, PowerPoint, etc.
  • The ability to manage multiple responsibilities at one time; you are a self-starter
  • A verifiable track record of success
