Houzz International is looking for Finance Director to join our fast growing International operations team based in our London office. Houzz is the largest community of homeowners and design professionals in the world and, in May 2016, won "Best App" at Google's inaugural Play Awards with "User experience and high star ratings" among the factors considered by Google's panel. You’ll be joining a rapidly expanding team on a mission to grow Houzz internationally.
The ideal candidate has at least 7 years of working experience in accounting or finance, preferably within an international or US headquartered company. You will fulfill a key position in developing and designing relevant management reports, will be actively involved with the international functional teams, advise the management team with complex finance cases and you will participate in operational and strategic decision-making.
You will be responsible for spearheading the International finance function through this period of rapid growth and will lead all finance, accounting, tax, strategic planning and administration activities, and will run and develop our finance team. You will also oversee annual budgeting and planning, keeping senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics, preferably supplemented by a Chartered Accountant or CMA/CIMA degree
  • At least 7+ years relevant working experience in finance, preferably within an US headquartered (international) complex, fast paced environment with a strong track record of performance
  • Able to be a sparring partner for both external and internal stakeholders
  • Proven management experience - able to lead from the front alongside a willingness to dig into the numbers yourself
  • Excellent numerical and communication skills - fluency in business level English is a must
  • All-rounder who is proactive, entrepreneurial, self-starting, versatile and who can work on both the operational and strategic level
  • High achiever (strong intellect, superior work-ethic and drive to succeed)
  • Able to work to deadlines and multitask, and be tenacious enough to see tasks through to completion
  • Candidate who has the capability and drive to grow as the business develops
  • Willingness to take on duties outside of your direct remit – with our startup culture and the nature of the team, you will find yourself working with demands and ad-hoc duties that require a positive and proactive approach
  • Experience with setting up a business or fast-growing businesses is a plus
  • The following experience is highly desirable:
  • System, process and operational change management within a growing organisation
  • International / Intra-Community (EU) VAT reporting in an e-commerce environment
  • Experience of import / export documentation.
  • US GAAP Experience
  • Experience in processing in multiple currencies and foreign exchange experience
  • Responsibilities:
  • Day to day management of International finance team members and overall responsibility for seamless execution of the International financial agenda
  • Take a lead role in the design and implementation of end to end processes to improve the overall efficiency of our international finance practices
  • Oversight of management reporting (daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc basis), statutory reporting and taxation, striving for constant improvement
  • Sparring partner for the International leadership team with regards to developing financial vision and oversight for the International business, compliance, and risk management
  • Partner with the US finance team with regards to inter-company accounting and reporting on a regular basis
  • Perform detailed reviews & variance analysis of Management Accounts across our international business
  • Monitoring, scoping and limiting all external and internal risks and controls
  • Relationship management with service providers, including facilities / building management company, credit cards, payroll administrators, etc.
  • Develop and improve Financial planning (budget and forecast) and Budgetary control in partnership with the leadership team developing long-term financial strategies and forecasts
  • Take a proactive initiative in diverse (ad hoc) projects related to the fast paced growth of the business
