About the Role

Houzz is looking for a seasoned leader in analytics to drive insights for product growth and engagement initiatives across our site experiences. Houzz is the leading destination for home design enthusiasts and data is a key to how we improve user experience and engagement for the millions of homeowners and professionals that are part of our community.

This is a role where you will help the product team to understand the health of the business, discover growth levers and identify opportunities for optimization. You will be tasked with scaling our existing analytics function to help us grow the business. The best analytics leaders understand that their product is the tools, accuracy, and accessibility of data so that all individuals can operate in a self-sufficient and trusted way to make the decisions needed to keep us moving aggressively towards our goals.

You will lead a team of 6 quantitative analysts, digging deep into our rich sets of consumer engagement/log data. You will need to be able to translate strong insights about user behavior and analysis techniques into actionable work for analysts on the team. You will need to mentor and grow them on both technical skills and broader analytical approaches.

What You’ll Do

Collaborate with leadership, product, engineering, marketing, and SEO teams to deliver reliable data and analysis used to make data-driven decisions

Mentor and grow an existing team of 6 analysts to foster their career growth and improve the overall output of the team

Hire and grow the team

Champion strategic areas where we can invest to improve our data capabilities, tools, and reporting/dashboard infrastructure to enable decision-making throughout the team

Work hand-in-hand with product teams to support strategic growth initiatives

Foster a data culture across the organization by leveling up our analytics function

Partner with Data Infrastructure team to deliver best in class data in terms of quality and structure

Evangelize the needs of the analytics team to ensure proper resourcing to match the growth of the product and business

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

Achievements in analytics/data science at prior jobs where the analysis was critical to driving top line growth

Experience in performing analytics for user behavior on consumer web and/or mobile applications like the ability to write complex SQL queries and an understanding of A/B testing and experiment design

Strong user behavior intuition with an innate ability to know where to look next when initial results don't match expectations

Excellent ability to distill and communicate findings

Hands-on experience with modern distributed data technologies (hadoop, hive, impala, teradata, etc)

M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics/Math/Engineering required

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

Experience with large scale consumer web/mobile businesses strongly desired

8+ years of relevant work experience, including managing teams of analysts for at least 2 years
